This manual sign maker can be re-configured to square mode from the default line mode. Either configuration will allow copy engraving of letters or item model incorporated into the same sign

Sign Maker Mode

In the picture above the machine is in what we call 'Sign-Maker' mode, something like landscape mode on a printer. Below is a picture of the copy router set up to copy a square area on the left to a workpiece on the right. The second picture is of the surfacer on the rails instead of the copier. The surfacer is to get an uneven workpiece level before engraving on it.

The handle on the right is connected to a length of allthread. We call it the indexer, since when the cross slide is hooked into it, it will let you move over the workpiece area in a consistant amount each pass with the stylus and router. It is 1/4-20 allthread, so each turn will move the long rail axis 0.050" (50 thousandths of an inch) per turn.
